I'm warning you right now... DON'T WASTE YOUR SUMMER!!! Summer can be an amazing time of refreshment and spiritual growth, but it can also easily turn into long days of boredom and laziness. If you want to take full advantage of your summer, would you join me in this 40 day challenge?
#1. 3O MINUTES OF "GOD AND I TIME"
Devotion plans greatly vary, but no matter what you do, be sure to have a plan. I beg you NOT to just flip to a random passage and have that be your Bible reading for the day! You will end up aimlessly wandering around with no goal, and will get much more easily discouraged. Whatever you do, HAVE. A. PLAN. I'd also encourage you to get this done first thing in the morning.
#2: HEALTHY/NUTRITIOUS FOODS
This would include three full meals a day. Yes, breakfast too:) If you need ideas I have lots! Aside from three full meals, be sure to limit your snacking;) Ah, the hard part lol.
#3: SCREEN TIME LIMITS
Don't waste so much time cooped up inside and staring at a bright screen! You don't have to cut it out entirely, but remember, this is a challenge. It's okay if it's hard. We're going to make the absolute MAXIMUM screen time two hours. SET A TIMER:)
#4: 30 MINUTES OF DAILY EXERCISE
Go to the pool, take a walk, go for a run, lift weights, whatever works best for you. Trust me, you will feel so much better after exercising, and less like a lazy potato hehehehe;) Do y'all know what Imma saying??
#5: WAKE UP BEFORE 8 O'CLOCK
I know, it's tempting not to set your alarm and to just sleep in, (after all, it IS summer!) but waking up early will make you feel less groggy, get more accomplished, have time to make yourself a healthy breakfast, and have more time for you devotions. It might be a little hard at first, but it's definitely worth it:)
#6: PLAN YOUR DAY AHEAD OF TIME
Write a to-do list the night before. If you enjoy planning, you can go crazy, but if not, make sure you at least know of a goal or project that you want to accomplish. Don't forget to add a couple of fun things to each day too! You don't want to wake up early just to sit around all day, do you??
#7: 15 MINUTE PRAYER WALK
I don't know about you, but I find it hard to sit and stare at a wall for 15 minutes while I pray. It's easier for me to be walking. (don't ask me how that works lol) My camp counselor gave me some really good advice when it comes to praying- pray like you're talking to your best friend. (psst... if you're really desperate, this can also count as half of your daily exercise, just saying lol)
Maybe it sounds like a lot, but I'll remind you guys...
"If you always do what you've always done, then you'll always get what you've always got" -Henry Ford
If you're ready to join me, I am starting this challenge tomorrow. Comment if you're in, and we can be accountability partners! Also, let me know if you want to join the accountability group chat! xoxo
